Open World Theatre is a creative arts practice rooted in a martial arts philosophy. As Art Marshals, we train across Embodiment, Creativity, and Questing – cultivating the willingness to be anyone and experience anything.
The aim is simple: to open into a state of full aliveness.
We walk a path of beauty that embraces risk, reality, and romance.

About Atlas Talisman
Atlas Talisman is a game designer and journeyman who has initiated himself into the art of improvised living through social experiments that move beyond the usual transactions of survival.
He has traveled across Australia and America without the use of money, experimenting with game theory and free-form adventure across Europe.
Now based in Melbourne, Atlas runs regular workshops and expeditions to explore play states and track aliveness on the world’s stage.

Our Practice
To pursue these aspirations, we train in ‘Human Interaction Labs’.
To play simply takes honesty — and the courage to open to what is.
We support each other as we respond to our innate calling – so that our legacy may carry the unmistakable signature of our souls.
To see a few ways I’ve attempted to achieve this in my past projects visit the history page.

As the Director of Open World Theatre and the Quest Master of OWTCH Adventure Club, I intend to lead by example; as I give my life to my own inventions and invite them to shape me, just as I have shaped them.
Arenas of Experience are the playgrounds where we come to terms with our humanness by stalking the moment, guided by what feels most alive and true.
OWTCH stands for ‘Open World Theatre Collaborative Heuristics‘ which explores navigating the unknown as a collective; crowd-sourcing decision making and assigning personal control to the audience, who become players of the human being as an avatar in the game of life.

I find, time and time again, that beyond our thresholds of tolerance, there is not pain or death, but instead exhilerating pleasure and life! That, infact, the fear and discomfort of avoidance was worse than the experience we were trying to avoid.
Open World rallies an ensemble of brave and curious humans who are willing to join me in the experiment of exposing themselves to Life.
I truly hope that something wonderful results. Something embodying a kind of innocence, creativity and naturalness that inspires the core humanity in all of us, to resurface.
Thank YOU for playing…
